Despite the passage of time, life has remained persistent here, and the Castle or “Kalaja” is the oldest district of the city. Mangalem stands majestically in the hills below the castle, its typical architecture and white walls being a testament to its past. It is a scene of beauty, its counterpart, Gorica, visible in the many windows that line its walls.
