Mercat del Born rests on the ruins that were once part of the Ribera district, destroyed in the early 18th century in the War of Succession. It is the largest covered square in Europe and one of the most important buildings in Barcelona to this day. As you bike past Ciutadella to Passeig del Born you will see the exposed subterranean ruins and surrounding museum areas.
