   A ride with Motor City Pedicab delivers an open-air cruise through the heart of Detroit’s historic architecture, vibrant street art, and revitalized neighborhood hubs. Rolling along Woodward Avenue, you pass bustling gathering spots like Campus Martius Park, pause beside civic icons like the bronze Spirit of Detroit, and duck into distinct pedestrian spaces like the boutique-lined Parker’s Alley and the mural-packed corridor of The Belt. A standout stop includes Washington Boulevard to step inside the meticulously restored Book Tower and gaze up at its soaring, three-story glass-domed rotunda. The route circles the open green space and historic triangular hub of Capitol Park and navigates the busy, restaurant-lined strip of Greektown, with tours frequently extending outward to showcase the colorful open-air murals of Eastern Market.

   The Spirit of Detroit is a large bronze statue created by sculptor Marshall Fredericks in 1958 and located in front of the Coleman A. Young Municipal Center in downtown Detroit. The statue represents the spirit of the city and holds a golden sphere with a figure representing God in one hand and a family symbolizing humanity in the other. It is meant to represent Detroit’s belief in faith, family, community, and the importance of people working together. Over the years, the Spirit of Detroit has become one of the city’s most recognizable landmarks and a symbol of Detroit’s pride and resilience.

   The Guardian Building in Detroit is a famous Art Deco skyscraper completed in 1929 and designed by architect Wirt C. Rowland. Known as the “Cathedral of Finance,” it is celebrated for its colorful and detailed interior, which features Pewabic tile, mosaics, murals, marble, stained glass, and Native American- and Mayan-inspired designs. The building was created as a headquarters for the Union Trust Company during Detroit’s economic boom and reflects the wealth and optimism of the 1920s. Today, the Guardian Building is a National Historic Landmark and is considered one of Detroit’s most beautiful and important examples of Art Deco architecture.
