   Aso Volcano
   
   Located in northeastern Kumamoto Prefecture, Kyushu, Mount Aso is one of Japan’s most famous active volcanoes and is home to one of the world’s largest volcanic calderas. It is also one of the few places where visitors can observe an active volcano from relatively close range.
   
   Take in the impressive view of the volcanic crater and watch white smoke continuously rise from the volcano, offering a fascinating glimpse of the immense power and beauty of nature.

   Afterward, Kusasenri at Mount Aso
   
   Kusasenri is a vast grassland located on the northern foothills of Mount Eboshi. A natural pond formed by
   rainwater lies in the center of the grassland, while cattle and horses can often be seen grazing freely across the open landscape.
   
   The scenery changes beautifully with the seasons. Take a leisurely walk across the expansive grassland, enjoy the peaceful views of the grazing animals, and breathe in the fresh mountain air. The tranquil surroundings create a relaxing atmosphere that feels like stepping into another world.

   Southern Aso Railway (Approx. 49 minutes; fare not included, JPY 550–2,000 per person)
   
   Enjoy a scenic journey aboard the distinctive Minami Aso Railway, traveling from Takamori Station to Tateno Station along the foothills of Mount Aso.
   
   As the train slowly winds its way through mountains and countryside, the scenery outside the windows changes throughout the journey. You can enjoy views of the majestic Aso Five Peaks, as well as surrounding forests, expansive fields, and clear mountain streams.
   
   The landscape offers a different charm in every season: fresh greenery in spring, lush scenery in summer, colorful foliage in autumn, and crisp, tranquil mountain views in winter. As the train travels deeper into Minami Aso, you will feel as though you are leaving the bustle of the city behind and entering a peaceful natural retreat.

   End your day in tranquility at Kurokawa Onsen (entry fee not included).
   As the day winds down, treat yourself to pure relaxation at Kurokawa Onsen (entry fee not included). Tucked away in the mountains, this enchanting hot spring village is famous for its charming ryokans, open-air baths, and vintage black timber designs. Stroll along its peaceful streets, surrounded by lush greenery, a scenic river, and the soothing steam of the springs.    Return to Fukuoka
