Itinéraire

  1. Arrêt 1 · 1 h 30 min

After meeting your tour conductor, travel by bus into the mountains of Gifu Prefecture.
Your first destination is Shirakawago, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of Japan's most famous rural villages. Home to more than 100 traditional gassho-zukuri farmhouses with steep thatched roofs designed to withstand heavy winter snowfall, Shirakawago remains a living community where residents continue their daily lives, giving visitors an opportunity to experience traditional countryside culture.
The tour conductor will take those who wish to visit Ogimachi Observation Deck, about a 20min walk from the village. From here, you can enjoy one of Shirakawago's most iconic views overlooking the historic farmhouses and surrounding mountains. You may also use the shuttle bus instead (additional fee 300 yen one way), though seats cannot be reserved and may be unavailable during busy periods.
From mid-October to early November, vibrant autumn foliage adds even more color to this picturesque landscape.

  2. Arrêt 2 · 2 h

After approx. 60 minutes, arrive in Hida Takayama, often referred to as the "Little Kyoto". This historic merchant town flourished during the Edo period and remains one of the best-preserved traditional districts in Japan. Walking through the old streets feels like stepping back in time, with wooden townhouses, traditional shopfronts, sake breweries marked by cedar ball ornaments, and narrow waterways running alongside the streets.
Here you will have free time to explore at your own pace and enjoy lunch independently. The area is well known for local specialties such as Hida beef sushi, grilled skewers, and regional sweets. The nostalgic atmosphere, combined with the beautifully preserved architecture, makes Takayama one of the most charming destinations in the Japanese Alps.
As a special treat, you will receive mitarashi dango, a popular local specialty consisting of grilled rice dumplings coated in a savory soy-based glaze.
The tour concludes in Nagoya Station at approximately 6:30PM
