   **India Gate** is a war memorial located in **New Delhi, India**. It was built in **1931** to honor the **soldiers of the British Indian Army** who died in **World War I** and the **Third Anglo-Afghan War**. Designed by **Sir Edwin Lutyens**, the 42-meter-high arch resembles the **Arc de Triomphe** in Paris. Beneath it burns the **Amar Jawan Jyoti**, an eternal flame honoring the unknown soldiers.
