次の目的地は、かつてマンガン採掘で第 1 位だった鉱山の町、チアトゥラです。この町は、1950 年代に鉱山労働者や住民を急峻な丘陵地帯を上り下りさせるために設置された、ソビエト時代のユニークなケーブルカー システムで有名でした。信じられないかもしれませんが、今日までケーブルカーは地元の人々にとって主要な公共交通機関の 1 つです。古いケーブルカーは新しいものに交換されましたが、廃線にぶら下がっている古いケーブルカー、別名「空飛ぶ棺桶」を見ることができます。チアトゥラの新しいゴンドラに乗って、しばらく地元の人になった気分を味わってください。チアトゥラ周辺に点在するソビエトの記念碑やモザイク、そして典型的なソビエト時代の住宅建築物も見ることができます。
チアトゥラを散策した後は、岩に彫られたムグヴィメヴィ修道院へ向かいます。夕方にはクタイシに戻ります。

Katskhi pillar is a spectacular 40 m. high rock with a church on top. There is rarely a chance to go up, as monk is living there permanently, even his brothers only communicate with him by bring food and with the help of the rope. You can take breathtaking photos of the pillar on the way or from the parking lot. However, there is a church and monastery on the ground level. So it is not a very long visit, but definitely worth it.

Chiatura is very important industrial town in western Georgia, it is one of the main mines of manganese. It is also extremely famous for its rope cable cars, which was built in the 50s as a mean of transport for the mine workers. You will take a ride on one of the new lines.
