Born among enslaved Africans in Brazil, it was once criminalized, like many Afro-Brazilian cultural expressions. Through resilience and brilliance, it survived and evolved into a powerful symbol of identity.
Your class takes place at the first Capoeira school founded in Brazil (1937), created by Mestre Bimba, who developed Capoeira Regional and helped legitimize Capoeira as a respected cultural practice. Training here is stepping into living history.
This beginner-friendly experience requires no prior training. You will learn fundamental movements, attacks, defenses, and the flow of the game, while exploring the music, rhythm, and traditions that guide Capoeira. Feel the energy of Salvador, move with intention, and connect with Afro-Brazilian heritage.
