概要
2016年にオープンしたAudain Art Museumは、バンクーバーの住宅建設家であり、慈善事業家のMichael Audainと妻のKarasawa Yoshikoによって設立されました。 56,000平方フィートのLEED認証構造は、ブリティッシュ・コロンビア州のウィスラーにあり、受賞歴のある建築会社Patkau Architectsによって設計されました。
博物館のパーマネントコレクションは、18世紀後半から現在に至るまで、ブリティッシュ・コロンビアのアートを展示しています。コレクションのアンカーリングは、世界で最も重要な現代的な彫刻された杉のダンススクリーンであるJames HartのThe Dance Screen（The Scream Too）です。他のハイライトには、Emily Carr、EJ Hughes、Jeff Wall、Stan Douglasなど世界的に有名なフォトコンシャス主義者をはじめとする、カナダで最も有名なアーティストによる19世紀から20世紀のFirst Nationsマスクの重要なコレクションがあります。
