概要

旅程

1. スポット1 · 2時間

Explore the biggest Buddhist temple in the world
Learn from your guide about the history of Borobudur temple

This famous Buddhist temple, dating from the 8th and 9th centuries, is located in central Java. It was built in three tiers: a pyramidal base with five concentric square terraces, the trunk of a cone with three circular platforms and, at the top, a monumental stupa. The walls and balustrades are decorated with fine low reliefs, covering a total surface area of 2,500 m2. Around the circular platforms are 72 openwork stupas, each containing a statue of the Buddha. The monument was restored with UNESCO's help in the 1970s.

2. スポット2 · 2時間

Explore the Trimurti temples dedicated to Shiva, Vishnu and Brahma and Listen to the explanation from your guide about the history of the Prambanan temple.

Some historians that adhere to dual dynasty theory suggest that the construction of Prambanan probably was meant as the Hindu Sanjaya dynasty's answer to the Buddhist Sailendra dynasty's Borobudur and Sewu temples nearby, and was meant to mark the return of the Hindu Sanjaya dynasty to power in Central Java after almost a century of Buddhist Sailendra dynasty domination. Nevertheless, the construction of this massive Hindu temple did signify a shift of the Mataram court's patronage, from Mahayana Buddhism to Shaivite Hinduism.
