   Ponte da Arrábida is an arch bridge over the Douro River that connects Porto (through the Arrábida area) to Vila Nova de Gaia (through the Candal junction), in Portugal.
   
   Since the 1930s, it was necessary to create alternative connections to the old bridges (D. Maria Pia and D. Luís bridges) in order to respond to the growing flow of road traffic.
   
   At the time of its construction in 1963, the bridge had the largest reinforced concrete arch of any bridge in the world. A tour that will stay in your memory forever.

   The Infante D. Henrique Bridge was inaugurated on March 30, 2003.
   Ponte Infante Dom Henrique, also known as Ponte do Infante, is a road bridge that connects Vila Nova de Gaia to Porto, over the Douro River, in Portugal. Named in honor of Infante D. Henrique, born in Porto, it is the most recent bridge connecting Porto and Gaia.

   The mythical bridge! Transport and communications architecture, 19th century. 19. Iron bridge, for road, rail and pedestrian traffic, made up of two metallic decks, supported by a large iron arch and five pillars. The decks located at different levels, and with different dimensions, adapting to the riverbanks, allow access to different points in the cities of Porto and Vila Nova de Gaia. The entire structure is made up of straight and parabolic beams, filled with other vertical beams supported by others that are crossed or perpendicular.    Serra do Pilar or Serra de São Nicolau or Serra de São Nicolau de Vila Nova is an elevation overlooking the Douro River located in the parish of Santa Marinha, Vila Nova de Gaia, bordering the city of Porto. The famous Serra do Pilar Monastery is located there.

6. Stop 6

   The D. Maria Pia Bridge is a railway infrastructure, which carried the Northern Line over the Douro River, between the cities of Porto and Vila Nova de Gaia, in the North of Portugal. It was inaugurated on November 4, 1877 and closed on June 24, 1991, having been replaced by Ponte de São João.

   The São João Bridge is a railway infrastructure that transports the Northern Line over the Douro River, close to the city of Porto, in Portugal. Built to replace the already century-old Ponte D. Maria Pia, it entered service on June 24, 1991

   Ponte do Freixo is a road bridge that connects Vila Nova de Gaia to Porto, over the Douro River, in Portugal. Of the bridges that connect Porto to Vila Nova de Gaia, Ponte do Freixo is the one furthest upstream of the Douro River. Project authored by Prof.

   The Fernandine Wall is the iconic belt of medieval Gothic walls of Porto, built in the 14th century to protect the expanding city. Although much of the original structure has been demolished since the 18th century for urban development, the impressive surviving pieces have been classified as National Monument since 1926 and offer some of the most spectacular views over the river Douro and the D. Louis I Bridge.

    The Church of Massarelos (officially known as the Church of the Holy Body of Massarelos) is a 18th-century Baroque temple, deeply linked to the maritime history of Porto and the Portuguese discoveries. Located in Largo do Adro, in the parish of Massarelos, the church is currently on track to be classified as Monument of National Interest.

    The Douro Estuary Local Natural Reserve is located in the parish of São Pedro da Afurada, in the municipality of Vila Nova de Gaia, district of Porto, in Portugal and was created on July 10, 2018. It has an area of 62 hectares, It is a resting, feeding and sheltering place for many species of migratory birds.

16. Stop 16

    Foz do Douro is where the river meets the Atlantic Ocean.
