   As you glide along Dubrovnik’s western shoreline, a solitary fortress rises dramatically from the cliffs, Lovrijenac, standing guard above the Adriatic.
   
   Built to defend the city from the sea, this imposing stronghold has watched over Dubrovnik for centuries. From the water, its position feels almost unreal—perched high on rugged rock, with waves crashing far below and the city walls stretching out behind it.
   
   Often called Dubrovnik’s “Gibraltar,” Lovrijenac is a symbol of the city’s independence and resilience. Today, beyond its historic role, it has become a stage for culture and storytelling, most famously during the Dubrovnik Summer Festival.

   St. Jacob Beach (Sveti Jakov) is one of Dubrovnik’s most beautiful and secluded beaches, tucked just beyond the eastern edge of the Old Town. Accessible primarily by sea or via a long staircase from above, it offers a more peaceful and refined atmosphere compared to the city’s busier shoreline.
   
   Arriving by boat from the Old Port reveals the beach at its most striking, framed by dramatic cliffs, with uninterrupted views of Lokrum Island and the iconic walls of Dubrovnik rising in the distance.
